Volunteering
AGE CONCERN RICHMOND UPON THAMES SEEKS VOLUNTEERS FOR A VARIETY OF NEW PROJECTS. PERHAPS YOU HAVE THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE ARE LOOKING FOR?
Age Concern Richmond upon Thames (ACRuT) has a large and dedicated team of volunteers and we are always on the look out for new people to join our team. Without our wide range of volunteers, ACRuT would only be able to achieve a small percentage of its work with and for older people. We always welcome hearing from people who are interested in joining this team in one of our various projects.
Current Volunteering Vacancies
Trustees
We are presently recruiting Trustees for our Board of Directors. This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference to the lives of older people in the Borough. We are the Strategic Lead in this field and have excellent relationships with the Borough, local funders and users. You should be a team player who is willing to offer your time for quarterly committee meetings and some sub committee work. We would welcome particularly members of the ethnic minority population and also younger people.
Head Office Reception Support
We need an extra volunteer receptionist to work at our Head Office on Tuesday afternoons. This is an important role, being the first point of contact for the organisation. The role will involve manning the phone line and carrying out office administrative tasks. It is an opportunity to be involved with many of our services which are based at the Head office in East Sheen and learn about the workings of the charity. Office experience would be an advantage.
Social Centre Volunteers - Barnes Green
This cheerful and busy centre requires two extra volunteers to help on Fridays. We need helpers to assist with setting up for lunches, welcoming members, serving food and beverages and helping with clearing and washing up. If you are a practical person who likes meeting and chatting to people then this is a great role for you! Help would be appreciated from late morning until 3.00pm.
Social Centre Volunteers - Meadows Hall, Richmond
We are presently recruiting volunteers for our Meadows Hall Social Centre. The volunteer roles will range from reception and administrative work (including computer inputting), to serving teas / coffees and chatting to and keeping our members company. This is a lively, friendly centre and volunteers will be part of a big team of helpers.
Leaflet Distributor and Project Promoter
We need some volunteers to help us with ongoing leaflet distribution. This may entail delivering to houses in selected areas of the borough or by going into particular shops / local establishments and promoting projects. These volunteers will help promote Age Concern volunteer recruitment drives and the Handyperson Service. Leafleting times may be flexible to suit individuals, and can be carried out on their own or as part of a group.
This role will suit someone who would like to get some fresh air and exercise whilst fulfilling a very useful role for the charity! If going into shops etc to promote schemes, volunteers will need to have a friendly and enthusiastic manner.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ANY OF THE ABOVE VOLUNTEERING POSITIONS PLEASE SEE BELOW ON HOW TO CONTACT US FOR AN APPLICATION FORM AND A ROLE DESCRIPTION
ACRuT also welcomes volunteers to help in a variety of other ways. This could include general administration, marketing, the provision of insurance products and services to older people after they have received their relevant insurance training as well as specialist advocacy support to older people with dementia or in a care home and working with our Handyperson Scheme.
As a volunteer with ACRuT you can expect:
- induction training
- ongoing support
- out of pocket expenses
- the opportunity to help make a difference to the lives of people in the
London Borough of Richmond
- the chance to gain new skills and experiences
